Language Arts Curriculum for Junior High Students
At Riverside Meadows, our integrated language arts courses provide junior high students with a well-rounded foundation in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Through a variety of activities and assignments, students develop essential skills for academic success and lifelong learning.
In these courses, students will:
• Read and respond to literature – both fiction and nonfiction, exploring different genres and themes.
• Experience all stages of the writing process, including:
• Brainstorming
• Rough draft
• Revising
• Editing
• Final draft
• Prepare and make oral presentations, practicing public speaking and communication skills.
• Learn and practice research skills, gaining the tools to effectively gather, analyze, and present information.
• Develop basic grammar, writing, and spelling skills, ensuring clarity and accuracy in written communication.
• Work on developing vocabulary and building a strong lexicon for reading and writing comprehension.
All of our language arts classes meet the California English-Language Content Standards for Grades 6-8, ensuring students are well-prepared for future academic challenges.
